Nude Figure Drawing is an intensive 2hr/4 day program that focuses on drawing the live human figure through observation. The class will bridge the gap between the eye and hand of what we see and perceive. We will follow a condensed syllabus and will address aspects of drawing that include observation with intent, mark making, value, layering, time etc.. At the end of the session, students will have gained a new understanding of the human body, a new appreciation for observation, and will have amassed a collection of drawings full of surprise.
The four day course follows a rigorous syllabus inspired by drawings class at The Cooper Union and touches upon the following concepts: Lines of Thought, Memory and Layering, About Time and Connections. Each class builds on the following and allows for growth as an artists and an observer.
Dionisio Cortes Ortega is a Mexican-American architect, artist, and educator. Dionisio has been a Drawing instructor and guest critic for the last ten years at his Alma Mater Cooper Union and has taught alongside Susan Gussow. His current art practice has taken the form of dry-point prints and has been studying the abstraction of the human body inspired by Jujitsu, wrestling and UFC.
